Kid Rock Criticizes Michelle Obama’s Decision to Skip Inauguration, Reflects on Respect for the Presidency

Kid Rock recently shared his thoughts on Michelle Obama’s decision to skip the upcoming presidential inauguration, suggesting that she seems “a little angry.” During an interview, the musician reflected on his own experience performing at Barack Obama’s inauguration, despite not voting for him, and emphasized the importance of respecting the office of the presidency regardless of political differences.

“I would kindly remind her that years back, when Obama was first elected, I did not vote for him, but they asked me to play the inauguration, and I played it,” Kid Rock said. “I went, had a good time. I went out of respect to the presidency.”

When asked why Michelle Obama might not be attending, Kid Rock humorously added, “She seems a little angry. She might be—I don’t know.” He laughed off the comment, but his remarks highlighted his belief in the importance of setting politics aside to honor the institution of the presidency.

Kid Rock’s Thoughts on Trump and Politics

A longtime supporter of Donald Trump, Kid Rock also reflected on his early endorsement of the former president. “I endorsed him when he came down the elevator because I love the fact that he was not a politician—he was a businessman,” he said. “The business of America has sucked for so long. We need someone making sensible decisions.”

He expressed frustration with the political climate, noting how difficult it has become to find good people willing to work in government due to the intense scrutiny they face. “We’re not electing the deacon of the church here,” he said. “I want somebody smart who can run the country, keep us safe, run it like a business, and make America great again.”

Upcoming Tour and Inauguration Performance

Kid Rock also shared details about his upcoming seven-city tour, which kicks off in March, and his plans for a special performance at the inauguration. He revealed that he initially declined a simple performance request but later worked on creating a detailed, choreographed show.

“When I was first asked to do it, they were like, ‘Can you show up and play the track to a couple of songs?’ And I was like, respectfully, I’m not interested in that at all,” he explained. “I came up and put something together, put it all down on paper to the minute—everything choreographed. They loved it.”

However, he joked about some of his more ambitious ideas being vetoed by the Secret Service. “They’re like, ‘Yeah, we can light up fireworks and have big pyrotechnics. Not sure we can have strippers on poles,’” he laughed.

On Birthdays and Holiday Greetings

As the interview wrapped up, Kid Rock shared his candid thoughts on birthdays and holiday greetings, calling them “a little annoying.” He explained that while he appreciates the love and support from friends and family, the constant influx of messages can be overwhelming. “If it means that much to you, send a card,” he quipped.

Kid Rock’s candid remarks, humor, and reflections on respect for the presidency continue to showcase his unique perspective on politics and culture. Fans can look forward to his upcoming tour and special inauguration performance, which promise to deliver his signature energy and creativity.
